well, billy, that brings up some interesting storytelling. the origins of deliriousland? take us back a few years... early 1999 to be exact!  'king of fools' had become the cd that never left my stereo.  it was my freshman year at concordia college in moorhead, mn, usa. between classes, studying, a part-time radio gig, and working, i did manage to have free time every once in a while.  a lot of this time was spent doing web-type things, i.e. webpages! at this time i was really wanting to make a new certain type of fansite.

let me present you with a little html-history first of all:

i had been toying with the idea of making a delirious? site for a while, but at the time i was working on my own constantly-changing autobiographical place on the web, 'jonny starlight's galaxy of merriment!,' which never really took off.

(actual linkexchage banner circa 1997)

it was my first site, originating on geocities way back in '96. jonny starlight is a cartoon character i created in high school, but the site was also my page of artwork and whatever else. remember when they offered you a whopping 1 free megabyte? ah, those were the days... anyway, it moved from geocities to tripod to fortune city, then back to tripod. and now, r.i.p. galaxy of merriment (1996-2000). maybe it will come back to life someday, you never know! :-)

(original 'u2*kaboom' main page graphic)

my second attempt at a website was 'u2*kaboom' in mid-1997 (again on tripod)... yes, that's right, A U2 FANSITE! u2 are one of my favourite bands, and when their album 'pop' came out, i tell you, i loved it SO much i wanted to dedicate an entire page on the web to the whole u2 pop era - the album, the new experimental sounds, popmart, bono's buzzed hairdo... you name it. the main page was an eyesore bright yellow (in honor of the popmart arch), featuring a mock 'pop' album cover (using my face x 4). its other main attraction was my page of live popmart pics, taken by yours truly. it was a semi-popular site, however, it sat amongst the hundreds of other u2 fansites already in existence, and wasn't ever going to go anywhere. so u2*kaboom closed up shop in late '98.

in june of '99, me and 2 friends formed a band! we named ourselves 'powdered toast,' after the super delicious breakfast treat, of ren & stimpy fame. that night of our first practice, we had already created our official home on the web (yes, again on tripod). you can visit our official site by clicking here. in the summer of 2001, we changed our name to 'the powdered toast.' yes, 'the!' i really don't know if we're still a band or not. we may continue using that name, but we always have other aliases for any future projects.

getting back to deliriousland?, we skip ahead to the autumn of 1999. my second year of college! by now, 'mezzamorphis' replaced 'king of fools' as my most-listened-to d:album. i was elected webmaster of our college radio station, KORD (click on the link, remnants of my original design can still be found there!). delirious? were touring the US around this time, and my friend & i headed down. this would be our first d:show ever!

it was a 250-mile drive from fargo to minneapolis (or, moorhead to st. paul if you wanna get twin-town-technical!), on sunday october 24th, 1999.

the show was spectacular! but that's what i expected anyway, it was d: for crying out loud! ;-) after getting back home late that night/early morning, i put my foot down and said to God, "it's time for me to finally get that delirious? site going!"

and so, deliriousland? was officially born the following evening, on october 25th. i placed it as a free page on cybercities.com.

click here to see the exact single page i put up that night. as you can see, i just filled out one of the generic templates cybercities.com had available, JUST to get it established.

that page sat for quite a while. i opened up a delirious? yahoo! club in december 1999, simply titled 'the mezzanine floor.' business was rather SLOW there. discussions don't fly very well when you only have 2 or 3 members in an online club/forum. but the club is alive today! huzzah! we just reached 100 members not too long ago! unfortunately, it has recently been converted to a yahoo! group, so its solo charm has now been plowed under after it joined other yahoo! d:groups. click here to check the club, i mean, group, out! and if you're interested, please join! ^_^

finally, after landing a decent job for the first time, i purchased my own domain in february 2001! about time, eh? www.deliriousland.net was it! actually, i purchased a second domain that day - www.trevour.com to be my own personal site! this site is to be the successor of the galaxy of merriment.

deliriousland? had 2 different faces until finally becoming what you currently see today! i spent a few sleepless nights in june coming up with the design now seen in front of you.

i wish to make deliriousland? like no other d:site in cyberspace... with its own unique style and flavourful content, and other cool stuff. hey, even i don't know how it will all end up looking, but hear me out, i will strive to make it entertaining and educational for all. a big thanks to delirious? and God, as well as my family and friends, and of course, all the d:fans out there for making all of this possible! ^_^
